Sets up and operates all machine shop equipment to produce standard and custom machined parts per customer order specifications.
Three to five years machine shop working experience with thorough knowledge of machine shop practices, principles, and operations. Ability to read dimensional mechanical drawings; use machine shop mathematics, handbook formulas and trigonometry; to use precision measuring instruments.
A) Sets up and operates CNC & Conventional equipment including vertical, horizontal, & universal mills, lathes, boring mills, and miscellaneous equipment including saws, grinders, drills, sanders, shears, presses, etc.
B) Performs hand operations such as filing, fitting, tapping, grinding, helicoiling, deburring, etc.
C) Checks and verifies results of machined parts, using the necessary precision measuring instruments; communicates problems and/or deviations to responsible person for review and resolution.
D) Performs routine preventative maintenance routines (cleaning, lubrication, and tolerance checks) as outlined in maintenance and calibration schedules; trouble shoots, recommends, performs all approved corrective maintenance for machine tools.
E) Works from sketches, provided necessary details & dimensions, blueprints, CAD drawings, and samples to complete prototype and special finished products.
F) Download programs as necessary for all CNC equipment (optional at ACT MANAGEMENT, Inc).
G) Constructs/builds fixtures, templates, and jigs for all shop machinery; constructs/repairs simple tools and fixtures as necessary.
H) Ability to meet established production standards. Practice safe work habits, maintain clean working environment, assist where needed with inventory and stock control/material preparation, return all tools, fixtures, jigs, & equipment to proper location when not in use, and (optional) learn CNC setup & interpret machine code.
STANDARD MANUFACTURING REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate with supervisors and other employees.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to noise, fumes, or airborne particles.
Sets up and operates all commutator manufacturing equipment to produce standard and One-of-a-kind COMMUTATORS & SLIP RINGS per customer order specifications.
Two to five years COMMUTATOR BUILDING work experience with thorough knowledge of various commutator designs and manufacturing techniques. Ability to read dimensional mechanical drawings; use commutator building mathematics, job paperwork formulas and trigonometry; to use precision measuring instruments, commutator testing equipment, curing ovens, and closing presses; to troubleshoot and solve commutator problems on work-in-process and completed commutators.
Every aspect of commutator and slip ring manufacturing, trouble shooting and repair.
